Volunteer Opportunities 2007

The Georgia Center for Children volunteer opportunities range from participating in special event activities, to volunteering professional services, to providing in-house volunteer support.

Special Events

A Knight for Kids

Saturday, February 17

Every year, Chapter 7 of the Georgia Blue Knights, a law enforcement club of motorcycle enthusiasts, hosts a fun benefit where they raffle off a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a truck to support the Center. This blue jean and leather jacket dinner and dance have over 1800 participants. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, to serve food and beverages, and to close the event.

Atlanta Charity Clays Tournament

Thursday, March 15 –

Saturday, March 17

The Center will be a beneficiary of the Atlanta Charity Clays Tournament, an event of clay shooting at Burge Plantation in nearby Buchanan, GA. The event kicks off with a gala at The Foundry at Puritan Mill on Thursday night. The GCC Volunteers are needed to help all three days of the event with the Gala set-up and auction and the tournaments on Friday and Saturday.

Atlanta Braves 50/50 Raffle

Saturday, May 26th

Volunteers will sell raffle tickets to fans at the Braves-Phillies game at 4:00. The winner receives 50% of the sales and the 50% is split between the Atlanta Braves Foundation and the Georgia Center. Sales go through the second inning and then the volunteers can stay and enjoy the game.

PGA TOUR Championship

Tuesday, September 11 –

Sunday, September 16

The Center will partner with Prom Catering to staff concession tents at the PGA TOUR Championship held at East Lake Golf Club. Volunteers are needed to help sell beverages and food to spectators all six days of the tournament. The six hour shifts begin at 9:00 am or 11:00 am. Volunteers can participate as many days as they choose. This is a great opportunity to see international professional golfers, enjoy a day at one of Atlanta’s exclusive golf clubs, and help the Center raise money to support our programs.

Cheer for Children

Thursday, November 29

This sixth annual fundraiser is an evening of wine, culinary delights, and auction to benefit the Georgia Center at the Biltmore in Midtown. The fun event is attended by over 400 guests and is the Center’s largest fundraising event.
Volunteers are needed to help with solicitation of sponsors and silent auction items; logistics and set-up the day of the event; and during the event with check-in, the silent auction and checkout, and breakdown of the auction.

This is a great way to get more involved and meet other volunteers who share a passion for our organization.

For event volunteers, you must be over 21 to assist.
